I love doing fundraisers. I auction as a profession and when people come to my rough and tumble Murco auctions they are there not to spend money. At fundraisers, people are there for the expressed purpose of raising funds for a cause they support. It’s much easier to convince people to part with their hard earned cash when they’re dressed up and liquor is involved….trust me
When I work galas and events, I don’t just show up for auction. I work the entire evening. I find that if I have the opportunity to “work the room”, introduce myself to the attendees and let them know I’ll be looking for them. I find that building rapport makes for a more personal, profitable & fun auction than if I just showed up and stood at a podium as a stranger.
I am sincerely invested in attendees having a great and lively time at auction while helping organizations achieve their financial goals. Besides it’s fun for me to class it up once in a while!
